The Academic and Performing Arts Building, designed by CDH Partners, added classrooms, adminstrative and faculty offices a theater, music department, a small library, seminar room and an art gallery to the Kennesaw State campus. The design scheme separates performance and instructional program elements in an elongated L-shape structure bordering a wooded hillside. The lobby entrance is oriented to the existing pedestrian circulation of the University. The 300 seat theater, later renamed the Stillwell Theater, includes a 65 foot high working fly-loft. The music department include rehersal spaces, and the art gallery displays both student and professional artisits’ work.

If you have ever stepped foot in the right lecture hall, the right gymnasium, or the right school library, you know how inspiring superior education architecture can be. The combination of light and space, of color and line, often means the difference between students eager to learn, and students bored with the demands of their classroom.

At CDH Partners, our extensive portfolio attests to our three decades of experience in education architecture and design. Whether it be in small or large communities, or in urban or rural environments, the collaborative nature of all of our projects demonstrates the attention to detail and care we bring to each and every commission. Our education architects work not only with you and your community, but also with our extensive staff.

Stribling Heart Clinic, an Outpatient Facility, Northeast Georgia Medical Center has moved forward in making complete coronary care available in two adjacent buildings. The Green Center provides seventeen beds for patients recovering form open-heart surgery and cardiac interventions, such as angioplasty and stent placement. The surgical area includes two open-heart surgery rooms with a medical prep room. The Stribling Clinic provides a complete range of diagnostic cardiac services, including vascular lab, cardiology lab with EKG and two procedure rooms, echo and stress testing and nuclear medicine.

By the nature of the rigors in the industry, interior design for hospitals rewrites the most basic of design rules. Yet this does not require that the finished product is dull or uninspiring. On the contrary, the form of medical interior design has taken on a new face, a face that leaves plenty of room for comfort, artistic integration, and of course, the digital component.

With experience comes innovation. At CDH Partners, we have over three decades of experience working in interior design for hospitals. We have worked in rural and urban environments, as well as projects both large and small in scope. We know how to best plan and implement the right medical interior design to benefit patients, families, employees, researchers, and the communities that support them.

The planning, implementation, and building of any hospital complex requires the utmost in experience in order to ensure an end product that can withstand the rigors of use for decades to come while ensuring the structures can accommodate ever-growing advances in technology. Because of the many facets inherent in these projects, and the necessity for perfection, only the most experienced hospital architects should be consulted.

Located near the entry of Callaway Gardens, this peaceful site provided the inspiration for master planning the site. A 400 seat Worship Center sets the tone for further campus development through the use of natural materials of stone, concrete, wood, and glass. A contemporary interpretation of a traditional Catholic church is expressed with transepts on either side of the sanctuary. This feature is accentuated by an open cupola positioned over the sanctuary as a source of natural light. A large series of windows on the northern exposure of the nave merge the picturesque outdoor setting with the serenity of the interior space.

Christ the King Catholic Church

Growth is the hope of every congregation, and so church building designs must take space into consideration. For instance, how many current members of the congregation exist? What must be done to ensure you account for handicapped members of the congregation? Is the church building design something that will be integrated into a neighborhood, or a stand-alone structure on a large amount of land?

At CDH Partners, our approach means every angle is examined, even in the earliest stages. That’s why every commission starts with the community, not with our company. We listen closely to the people behind the projects, leveraging our expertise with their vision. We believe the results speak for themselves. Our extensive portfolio of church building designs can be viewed online, including plans for buildings not yet completed and finished projects.

Originally constructed in 1966 and three subsequent additions over the next thirty-five years led to a Needs Assessment to determine the best future use of the facility. A portion of the school dubbed the “earth-shelter” by the school district will be saved. This 1985 addition is constructed with reinforced concrete allowing earth to be piled on the roof structure and bermed against the walls. The renovation will remove this “false” insulation from the roof and walls to eliminate long-term moisture issues and be reconditioned with a complete interior renovation and new roof structure. The balance of the existing campus will be demolished. A new series of core and classroom spaces will augment the existing fifteen classrooms in the salvaged portion.

This colonial design church with Palladian windows, generous use of painted millwork and rich detailing provides seating for 1200 in the Worship Center. The liturgical worship format directed the design team to include a large platform accommodating a processional party. The choir and church’s refurbished pipe organ are in a loft to the rear of the nave. Practically invisible audio and video capabilities ensures that technology does not become a distraction to worshippers. Almost unnoticed are two large retractable screens, a control booth discretely located in the loft, and a hidden catwalk above the ceiling.

The plan provides for an elementary school, middle school, district offices, warehousing/maintenance facilities and a county recreational center. The new school was specifically designed for 800 students in grades four and five and in houses thirty-two classrooms which are supported by the Media Center, Cafeteria/Food Services, an Administrative Suite and Gymnasium. It is designed with footprint space for twelve additional classrooms. White County Intermediate School is sited to take full advantage of the spectacular backdrop of Mount Yonah and the Nachoochee Valley.

The key to a beautiful, functional, and exceptional building is never in one particular ingredient. It’s a combination, a synthesis, of many aspects working as a whole. And knowing that led us to perfect our approach by offering so many services essential to the most effective hospital design under one roof at CDH Partners.

It is so much more than a simple matter of the right function, it is a melding of the right hospital architecture and design to provide a calm, safe, and secure environment. It takes into consideration not only the experience of the patient, but also their family, caretakers, and hospital staff.

The existing facility was constructed over a thirty-five year period and budget constraints required that a 1990 wing and a 1999 four-pod classroom addition remain intact. The existing wing contained a media center, classrooms and gymnasium. Since 190 feet separate these two structures, continuity required reconnecting the two with new construction. The “H” shaped plan re-orients the entrance with a new adjacency to the existing media center aligning public use and student core spaces along the front wing of the “H”. The rear wing connects with the new construction and carves out an interior plaza for outdoor dining with tiered seating space for up to 120 students.

A church is not simply a structure with one purpose. No, depending on desires of the congregation and community, a church project may include a sacred space intended to bring about feelings of peace, tranquility, and calm, or a dynamic space complete with concert halls and gymnasiums, classrooms and offices. And because every congregation has a completely different set of requirements when it comes to optimal church interior design, it’s essential that when embarking on a new project you partner with experts invested in your vision.

Church designers run the gamut throughout the industry, from show-stopping “rock-star” types, to home-grown firms with small portfolios. The truth is that to ensure the final project meets your expectations, you must work with a company invested in your vision—not their own.

At CDH Partners, when we embark on a project, we’re not only there to provide the sketches, plans, and specifications that result in a completed project, but we also manage the many aspects of systems organization involved in the creation of a final, built environment. That means that every detail is attended by experts from our church designers and architects, to our engineers and construction managers.
